An Awesome Review of JolieMD by Beautybunny

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

We love to see all the great things people have to say about JolieMD and we were most pleasantly surprised by the review of beauty blogger, Cailin at Beautybunny.com:

“This line’s promises are as wide-ranging as the Baby Quasar: it claims to diminish wrinkles, even pigmentation, and reduce acne while calming the triggers of new discoloration including inflammation and sun damage. But does it actually live up to the hype?

I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience, but in my opinion, the answer is a resounding yes. I’ve been more impressed by this skincare line than any other in recent history. When the Softening Serum quickly seeped into my skin, I knew I was dealing with quality goods. And I love the Enlightening Lotion – it feels fantastic to apply and the scent is subtle and pleasant.

As results go, JolieMD is unmatched in my skincare experience: I’ve been using the product for about four months now, and I’ve definitely seen improvements in my skin. My neck feels softer, my undereye circles are lighter, and the breakouts and discoloration I often got on my nose and chin have all but disappeared.”

Short and Sweet NYC says “Refresh your complexion with JolieMD”

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

We love honest reviews of JolieMD and were thrilled to see this come from Short and Sweet NYC:

“I wanted to repair and refresh my complexion for spring with a less severe alternative to a chemical peel. I came across the new upscale, at home skincare system by Jolie MD. The two step system was created by Beverly Hills plastic surgeons Dr. Jason Litner and Dr. Peyman Solieman…After the eight weeks, I noticed my skin was more radiant and any visible damage from artificial tanning vanished.”

Just in line with our acne blog- check out the glowing review from Luxe Tips!

“The lightening lotion is phenomenal. It is lightweight and very non-greasy. This is important to me because I have very oily skin. In addition, the lightening lotion gives your skin the most amazing glow. The glow is better than a light sun-kissed tan. More importantly, this skincare system did not break me out. I have extremely sensitive skin and I did not experience one blemish during the 6 week trial…”

“I also noticed that JolieMD made my skin very very smooth. It improved my skin’s texture by 100%. Seriously. I am always struggling with blackheads and big pores, but my skin feels smooth as a baby’s. I am sure that is the slow and daily exfoliation caused alpha-hydroxy acids in the softening serum. Last week my niece touched my face and she said “Toicha, your skin is so smooth”. Boy that made me feel good!

“Overall I really love this product! I am definitely going to use JolieMD Metamorphosis as my skincare system of choice; not because it totally got rid of my dark spots. But because I have not had one pimple or black head since using the product and like I said my skin is so soft and smooth! The two-part system retails for $95 dollars and I think it is absolutely worth it.”

Acne and Acne Blemishes: Why Women Know it’s Not Just a Teenage Problem

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Women who continue to experience acne breakouts well into their 30s and forties should know they are not alone. While an estimated 85% of adolescents aged 15 to 17 years have acne, there are countless studies that show that a lot of women continue to have significant breakouts well into their 40s. And where so many other products fail, Metamorphosis was formulated to transform your skin to clear your acne and prevent new breakouts.

Adult hormonal acne often does not respond to benzoyl peroxide treatments and needs a different approach. For the sake of simplicity you should know that the path to a breakout is well known and really involves 4 steps:

  1. Comedogenesis- Simple term a plugged follicle
  2. Increased Oil (Sebum) production
  3. Increased bacteria (the main one being P. acnes)
  4. Inflammation

Once this path happens, the follicle ruptures and extends causing papules, pustules, nodules, white heads, and blackheads. And if you have skin of color, the unfortunate hyperpigmentation (brown spot) that is often bigger and lasts longer than the acne itself.

The wonderful thing about Metamorphosis is that it not only works at every step in the acne pathway, but also helps remove the hyperpigmentation and prevent further breakouts.

So how does it work?

Simply by targeting each step in the acne pathway:

Preventing Plugged Follicles- Metamorphosis is very unique in combining Slow Release Alpha, Beta and Poly hydroxy acids in the Softening Serum. The formulation was specifically formulated so you can leave it on all night so that it would be as effective as possible. But Metamorphosis goes even further by placing Retinol in Enlightening Lotion. The result is a very effective but gentle turnover of old skin that prevents plugged follicles.

The main ingredients shown to work topically to Reduce Oil Production are Alpha acids, Salicyclic Acid, and retinols. You should know that Softening Serum and Enlightening Lotion have all of these ingredients in the most effective concentrations available for daily use as well as Flavosterone, which has also been shown to reduce sebum production. And again, unlike most other products, you leave Metamorphosis on after application with no need to wash off or neutralize. As a result, the products are safe, easy to use, and most importantly, actually have the time they need to work.

Anti- Bacterial- Unlike most products that rely only on Benzoyl peroxide which can irritate your skin and stain your clothes and bed sheets, Metamorphosis’ antibacterial activity is the result of its unique combination of Hexylresorcinol, Niacinamide, Azelaic Acid, and Salicylic Acid. The result is a one of a kind formulation that works where other systems fail.

Inflammation-And finally, one of the exceptional elements of the Metamorphosis process is the potent blend of anti-inflammatories and barrier protectants that are ultimately so important in repairing the skin barrier and in preventing acne. Amongst these are scientifically proven concentrations of Niacinamide, Symcalmin, Feverfew, Bisabolol, and Willowherb.

Metamorphosis was formulated to transform your skin so that you can have fewer acne breakouts, while you clear your skin of hyperpigmentation and improve the signs of aging . And you can read more about our innovative new approach to skin care here.

Beauty Blogger BellaSugar Gave us a Great Review

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Great to see another great review of JolieMD. They have Nadine confused as a developer rather than creative director but what’s important is they give an honest, independent review after having using the product for a month:

“I’ve seen improvement in the overall tone and evenness of my complexion; for instance, a recent stubborn acne scar has finally started to fade. I have fewer clogged pores, and much of the redness in my cheeks has disappeared… I see gradual, but consistent, improvement along the lines of the before-and-after shots on JolieMD’s website. ”

It’s Not About a Magic Berry: A New Way of Looking at Skin Care

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Modern “technology” in skin care has come a long way compared to the state one would have found even 10-15 years ago. Research into the vast array of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, botanicals, marine bioactives, and fruit extracts as well as penetrants, texturizers and emulsifiers have truly led to a remarkable turnaround in the quality of skin care presently available to consumers.

And yet for the great majority of women, there has still been something lacking- Real Results. How else can you explain the confusion you encounter walking down an aisle of your local beauty store. Why does every brand have an entire wall of products designed to help treat your skin?

“It’s the style that gets you; technological ugliness syruped over with romantic phoniness in an effort to produce beauty and profit by people who, though stylish, don’t know where to start because no one has ever told them there’s such a thing as Quality in this world and it’s real, not style.”

What we sought and achieved with JolieMD is not just a distinct point of view, a new way of looking at skin care but real results. We wanted women to accomplish what they have always really wanted: beautiful, vibrant skin. In the process, we created a simple 2 step system that allows your skin to be at once less susceptible to acne, younger looking, and clear of the hyperpigmentation that has arisen from years of sun damage, acne and hormonal changes.

Where all previous skin care brands have been designed under an artificial system of skin “diseases”   requiring a wall of products consisting of an “acne system,” a “hyperpigmentation system,” an “anti-aging system,” so on and so forth; JolieMD is a 2 step system.

You may ask how is this possible?

The answer is not a magic berry, or a new peptide. Instead, it is an innovative new approach to skin care that combines the best ingredients nature has to offer in the concentrations science has shown to be required to affect real results.

JolieMD is Quality: a fusion of nature and the human spirit into a new kind of skin care that transcends both.

JolieMD Metamorphosis vs Prescription Strength Hydroquinone: Simply look at the comparison

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Many patients have always thought that in order to even their skin tone and remove the sun damage or post pregnancy heperpigmentatiion, that their only option was to go see their physician and get a prescription for hydroquinone or a hydroquinone containing product like Triluma. And this is just one of the great reasons that we created JolieMD.

First, and most importantly, JolieMD works. Hydoquinone is a compound that simply acts to competitively inhibit the major enzyme (Tyrosinase) that produces your pigment (melanin). What this means is that it competes with the Tyrosinase enzyme’s natural molecule in your body ( an amino acid tyrosine) as it attempts to be converted to melanin. So, in theory, the more hydroquinone you use, the less pigment your body makes.

Unfortunately, hydroquinone has many potential and real draw backs. Hydroquinone is very unstable and rapidly gets oxidized. It can induce redness, skin irritation, contact dermatitis (allergic reaction), and at a high enough concentration it can cause permanent skin depigmentation. Moreover, chronic usage of cosmetics containing hydroquinone can result in ochronosis, which commonly presents as asymptomatic blue-black macules on the cheeks, temples,  and neck. And there are even reports that chronic use can cause your body to exude an offensive fish odor in the sweat that is described as “fish odor syndrome.” As a result of these problems, as well as its potential carcinogenic effects, hydroquinone has already been banned in Europe as well as much of Asia. And here, in the U.S., In 2006, the United States Food and Drug Administration revoked its previous approval of hydroquinone and proposed a ban on all  over the counter preparations. While this did not happen, Dr Litner and I decided that there must be a better alternative- JolieMD.

While products that contain hydroquinone generally rely on its one mechanism to remove spots, JolieMD was formulated to include 19 different active ingredients that have clinically proven lightening abilities, and do not have any of the potential issues that the use of hydroquinone brings up. Moreover, unlike hydroquinone containing alternatives JolieMD has clinically proven anti-aging and anti-acne ingredients that allow you to truly achieve the glowing, youthful, makeup free skin you have always wanted. So below we have included a small chart of just some of the benefits that JolieMD has over hydroquinone containing alternatives. And, we have even attached a more fully developed chart for those interested in a pdf format here Hydroquinone-vs-JolieMD

Naturally JolieMD- See the Great Natural Actives in JolieMD

Monday, April 5th, 2010

One of the keys to JolieMD is our determination to be as transparent as possible so you can know exactly what you are using, and why we used those particular ingredients to formulate both JolieMD’s Softening Serum and Enlightening Lotion. Much of this stems from the confusion Dr Litner and I have always heard coming from our patients when we talk to them about their skin. Most people really don’t know what ingredients their products have or how the products are supposed to work. So we wanted to help you become as educated as you want to be about why JolieMD works.

Throughout the process we wanted to make sure the products had the best active ingredients nature had to offer, and so that’s why both Softening Serum and Enlightening Lotion each are over 20% active ingredients. Compare this to the majority of products out on the market today, which have at most 3-4% active ingredient, and you begin to understand why JolieMD can do so much in 2 simple steps.

Below are just some of the great natural ingredients that Softening Serum and Enlightening Lotion have :

AntiOxidants

Green Tea Extract, Willowherb, Gluconolactone, Phytic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Citric Acid, Hexylresorcinol

Botanicals

Morus Alba Bark Extract, Bearberry, Licorice Extract, Feverfew (parthenolide- free) extract, Soybean Seed Extract, Willowherb, Vegetable- derived Squalane, Bisabolol (Chamomile extract), Plant Sterols

Marine BioActives

JolieMD: The Message

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

One of the most important parts of a project like JolieMD was messaging; now that Dr Litner and I had created our hero products, how were we going to explain that this product worked on anti- aging by removing fine lines and wrinkles as well as by evening skin tone, while also combating stubborn acne and hyperpigmentation.

Here we need to first thank Nadine Jolie, who was there to help us take out the medicalese and explain in clear terms what women needed to know. Tirelessly, she edited copy after copy of the philosophy behind the brand, the ingredients present and how they worked, and the irritants that we had avoided and why we had avoided them. She helped fashion the message we wanted to tell: that we had combined over 22% active ingredients in each- Softening Serum and Lightening Lotion- and that was why JolieMD works- period.

And more, Nadine was there, with our Practice Manager Baharak Amirian, to review the packaging to make sure it is feminine enough, sophisticated enough; to feel the products and make sure they are smooth enough, soft enough. Their fingerprints, along with our families and friends, have been present throughout the project from the beginning, and so we named this beautiful new product JolieMD- because from the beginning Dr Litner and I want to create a new brand that has that unique combination that we think had eluded skin care to date- an effective, simple to use product, that was beautiful…that was Jolie.

With the message complete, we turned to the PR expertise of Erin Kelly of The Collective, and our dear friend and retail liaison Danielle Bristol Chang, who together and in their own respective ways have worked tirelessly reaching out to beauty bloggers, beauty editors, and beauty buyers everywhere to get the word out that there is a new brand of skin care- JolieMD.

Dr Litner and I cannot thank our dedicated team enough for all their efforts to let you know about JolieMD.
